Does a regular wash and dry cycle kill mold?

I had a water leak in my closet and a towel and a t-shirt got moldy in the process. I just washed them in the washing machine with normal detergent and dried them, but I wanted to make sure I didn't need to do anything else to be sure the mold was all gone. Any advice?Does a regular wash and dry cycle kill mold?
To kill mold/mildew (which are living organisms) on white cottons, wash in HOT water, good detergent, and some chlorine bleach --1 cup per full load in washer w/agitator; 1/2 cup in HE washer.

To kill mold/mildew on colored laundry which cannot be bleached, you can use Lysol concentrate (not the household cleaner - link below) -- same amounts as for bleach, above. Wash in the hottest water possible. (If clothing labels say to wash in cold water, that's not a problem.)

White vinegar in the final rinse will be a big help too -- again, same amounts as listed above. If your washer has a fabric softener dispenser, you can put it there. If your washer does not have a FS dispenser, you can put it in a Downy ball (link below) or add it manually.

Drying white cottons in bright sunshine will also be a big help.

Always be sure the mold/mildew is completely washed out before putting laundry in a dryer.

As a couple other people have said use white vinegar. It's safe to use on colors, which bleach is not, and it kills the mold just the same. No need to worry about colors fading either since the vinegar will actually help the colors stay bright!
Presoak them in vinegar solution for overnight before washing them with normal laundry detergent. Dry them completely under the hot sun will kill any remaining molds.

Hope this helps.
One of the best sanitisers is the sun.

Also look at a product like Damp Rid which you put in your closet to suck the moisture out of there.
A normal wash and dry cycle without steam will not kill all types of mold

What you should do for anything thats not delicate

Pour 3/4 cup of white vinegar into the washing machine

Wash in HOT water

Dry outside in direct sunlight
to be sure just add 1/2 cup of bleach ,[ mixed with water] to your next wash
